i.vy presents her third release on ther own label, chinese laundry. after the first two volumes, continuing the saga in vinyl on the label, also time she s proposing a release based on the acid sound, in fact, from here come the names of the three tracks of -vol. 3 -, sonically distinct from forms of sound in both the quality of the tone and in the structure, leading to a complete trip right in the underground scene. the a-side exposes two tracks both dictated by a bassline, a sequence of acid accompanied by a drum-machine percussion, the sounds derive from -machines- that have guided the analogue creative artist, exposing grit, intensity and quality defined the synth that has a continuous evolution throughout its duration, with a sound much richer in harmonics. the other side of the coin is the b-side, a product of the collaboration between i.vy & the 90 s peacefrog producer solid state, a true evolution from the first two tracks, while following the lodging acid, the b-side results more aggressive and determined, demonstrating a mindset based on a building techno, with a strong impact on the dancefloor.

after his highly acclaimed sunset in kreuzberg ep, dib001 shifts gears and goes straight into techno mode: constantine is a steady number, its acid bass line slugging around a dark lfo pulse and punching snares. piano chords slow down the pace here and there, adding a dreamy touch to the mood. on remix duties, idriss drafts in gaetano parisio, the godfather of the italian techno scene: his track has a more percussive feel, with a classy swinging rhythm that takes over the original groove.

the third release from wavefreform again comes to us from the east, and this time around it marks a reformation of sound for both the label and the artist. half of the long-running georgian duo greenbeam & leon, boyd schidt is a producer with over a decade of work already under his belt whose first releases emerged in 2007. as a solo artist, his career dates to 2010 with digital releases on georgia’s front rec, fvf records, and emote music, and a track on the new vinyl compilation from studio r°. with the hard, broken kick pattern, elevated tempo, and nods to electro, the a-side ‘phantom’, a collaboration with subex, is a change of pace for the artist and the hardest thing yet to emerge from wavereform. dubwise use of effects shows the same hands still at work, but the sound elements, granulated blasts of static and drop-based structure of the track hold strong parallels to the rejuvenated techno sound currently emerging from the uk. the b-side, ‘structure’, recalls the previous work of the artist: subtle, building dub techno rich in detail and with the dancefloor firmly in mind. there is clear experience at work here with his deliberate deployment and manipulation of elements as the track struts along while enveloping the listener in its smaller details. as it pauses and takes an extended breakdown, the details rush forwards, but it finds renewed force to power itself to the close. coming in this case from an established producer with a long history, this kind of control is not surprising, but it is more indication of the riches of the east that have yet to be discovered by audiences worldwide.

the opening track on this double sided gynltd series comes from hironori takahashi. speclaz displays sharp panned cymbals and sonics, underpinned by a pulsey rhythm and modulated organesque synths. the takaaki itoh remix is a deeper and more moody affair, albeit with a similar syncopated rhythm structure and some tasty modulated acidic synth stabs with filtered atmospherics. on the flip-side, myk derill s crossroads takes a turn for a more broken industrial rhythm with looped vocal chants holding it all together before breaking down into a washed out synth breakdown, then returning to the pre-emnent fat rhythm and vocalised stabs. finally track 4 sees philippe petit remix, with the artist opting for a very stripped back 4-4 hi-hats/percussive workout underpinning minimalistic modulated synth and gentle bassy offsets. the most tooled-up track of this ep.

f = ma is an hard techno ep, dynamic and pressing both for side a and side b. a two-track ep that was inspired by the physics formula s second law of motion which states that the acceleration of a body is directly proportional and in the same direction of the force acting on it, while it is inversely proportional to its mass . the track on side a, entitled -massa- is a techno track, properly basic, structured on a massive scale, and that is why it was chosen as the track for side a minded for a dance floor set. a piece that starts with decision, full of body and massive , and that is why was named massa. the track on the b side, -accelerazione- is more quite, but another dance track for this great disc. a bit more slender and smooth, with broad- acceleration in a dance floor moment certainly forwarded more than the cervical part of a set, to be spent at the end to throw the disc to the latest beats.

that future starts right here with the release of the check point ep and a title track that thunders straight out of the blocks with its steamroller kick drum and mighty bass synth. wade then strips things back, rolling out pulsing bass and percussive vibes on dark shadows before dropping more imperious drum work as he closes the ep with sunday in the sky.

a real thick baseline - a fabulous ep start. of the same title dragon fly comes along with dizzying, but best placed sound effects und a bashing buildup. we love listening to that great sound. neck breaker - not neck breaking but with a most impressive vocal and creative seeded sound expericence. makes us fancy for more like this. and bäms - the ep continues with a track called roll on. quite deep and initiated with a cool vocal - very british - the composition ist a bit more funny - a good mood sound creates an appetite for more. we are hot for the release on stylerockets.

roots for bloom label boss jamie trench kicks off the label offshoot rfbcolours with a collaboration ep alongside rebel. the a side tracks come from jamie himself. -good love- has a stripped back garage feel with a jacking and filtered vocal carrying it, then stapled brings things across with a more techno feel with strong stabs and background drifting chords. the b side is where we see rebel s input, with the rolling and infectious in the end . the groove is again stripped back and simple but it s this that carries the vocal that demands your attention. the two then pair up for we don t fly first class and it s apparent to hear in the track where the two come together well. this one is driven by a huge sub bass line and simple stabs and talking and seductive vocal lines.

roger gerressen about his project >lunar phases< : -when thinking about the lights of the night the first thing that came to my mind was the moon. you look at it daily and we are all affected by it so much. since the project contains eight tracks and the moon travels through eight phases every month it seemed like an obvious choice to choose this subject for the lp. the first part of the lp is the >new moon<, when the people (and the music) are mellow and relaxed. the second part of the lp is darker, faster and more chaotic, which is more likely to be the effect a >full moon< has on people.-

uwe schmidt is one of the most prolific contemporary electronic musicians of our era, with nearly 200 releases produced under a dizzying array of aliases. perhaps his most well known and celebrated project is señor coconut, of bossanova kraftwerk cover fame. we ve heard many dozens of uwes releases and consider more than a few of them to be bunker classics that are in constant rotation at both our house and on our dancefloor.

wayne gardiner is something of an unsung hero in the deep house world. his productions on numerous labels (nervous, strictly rhythm, ibadan etc) under his own name, as classic man, logic, track masters and many more all have the perfect balance of rough and smooth, deep pads, jazzy keys, floating melodies and chopped vocal samples are all underpinned by tough driving beats and percussion creating his trademark sound. the ep features 2 mixes of killer a-side come on, do anything, 2 mixes of the slamming b-side cut i need you so bad and finally the basement jam which rounds things out. 5 tracks of pure 1992 nyc garage, one for true aficionados and house heads!
